1. Executive Summary

Gift-a-Roast is an AI-powered voice entertainment service that lets anyone send a personalized roast call, a singing telegram-style sweet note, or call in for live AI roasting. The recipient receives a phone call generated entirely by AI: ElevenLabs voice synthesis delivers content written on the fly by an LLM, using personal details the sender provides as "ammo." The entire transaction takes 30 seconds on the website — no app download, no account required, no friction.

The service is already built and running on giftaroast.com with three products: Gift-a-Roast ($9.99), Sweet Note ($14.99), and The Roast Line ($0.99/min). The codebase is production-hardened with a FastAPI backend, Twilio telephony integration, ElevenLabs voice synthesis, Deepgram speech-to-text for the interactive roast line, and an SQLite order database. The site has been live for one week with no marketing spend.

TL;DR: At $9.99 per roast, selling just 500 orders/month = $60K/yr with near-zero marginal cost. The Roast Line is a recurring revenue engine at $0.99/min. Already built, running, and ready to scale. No funding needed — just distribution.

2. Elevator Pitch

Someone you know deserves to be roasted. Or serenaded. Or both. Gift-a-Roast lets you do it with a phone call generated by AI in seconds. Pick their level of destruction, give us the ammo, and we call them with a personalized roast that will have them crying — from laughter or shame, your call. Sweet Note sends a singing telegram for birthdays and proposals. The Roast Line lets anyone call in and get roasted live, round after round, until they surrender. No app. No download. Just a phone call. Starting at $9.99.

3. Problem Statement

3.1 The Generic Gift Problem

Gift-giving is broken. People spend hours browsing Amazon for someone who already has everything, send gift cards that feel impersonal, and show up with flowers that die in three days. What people actually remember is the experience — and nothing is more memorable than a phone call that catches them completely off guard.

3.2 The Entertainment Gap

There is no mainstream service that delivers personalized, AI-generated voice entertainment by phone as a gift. Existing options:

OptionProblem
Greeting cardsForgettable, generic, takes 5 seconds to read
Gift cards"Here's $20 to somewhere they may not like" energy
Singing telegrams (real)$100–$300, need to book, limited availability
Custom videos (Cameo)$50–$500+ for a B-lister who doesn't know them
Prank call appsCheap, scripted, low quality, feel like 2005
Gift-a-Roast$9.99, instant, personalized, hilarious, delivered by phone

3.3 The Numbers Problem

Americans spent $30.5 billion on greeting cards in 2024 (Greeting Card Association). The average household buys 30 cards per year. The online greeting card market is growing at 8.1% CAGR. Gift-a-Roast doesn't need to replace cards — it just needs to capture a sliver of the "something more memorable" budget that already exists.

5. Product Overview

🔥 Gift-a-Roast — $9.99

A personalized AI roast call. The sender provides "ammo" (embarrassing stories, inside jokes, things the recipient did), and the AI generates a savage, hilarious 30-second roast delivered by ElevenLabs text-to-speech over a phone call. The recipient gets a call, picks up, and gets destroyed. Voicemail detection handles no-answers.

Status: BUILT & SHIPPING

💝 Sweet Note — $14.99

An AI singing telegram. Same delivery mechanism, but the AI generates a personalized song in a chosen style (Romantic Pop Ballad, Country Serenade, R&B Slow Jam, Broadway Showtune) instead of a roast. Recipient hears a song written about them, delivered by phone. If they miss the call, they can call back to hear it again.

📞 The Roast Line — $0.99/min

Call in and get roasted live by AI. State your name, the AI roasts you, you come back for more. Round after round until you surrender. Uses Deepgram STT to transcribe what the caller says, feeds it to the LLM, then roasts them back via ElevenLabs. The original insult hotline, AI-powered.

6. Revenue Model

Current Pricing

Assessment: The current pricing is solid for a v1 impulse-buy model, but has room for three strategic improvements: (1) bundle pricing, (2) premium tiers, and (3) corporate/bulk offerings. The Roast Line ($0.99/min) is the only recurring revenue engine — recommend adding a subscription tier for regular roasters.

✅ Already shipping. Gift-a-Roast is built, deployed, and taking orders at giftaroast.com. Infrastructure costs $0/mo (existing VPS). What needs attention:
